Shipping containers arrive at our dock leveller and the goods are removed (de-stuffed) and palletised onto the most efficient pallet size for the goods - from euro pallets to out-size 2400mmx1200mm. The goods can be loose stuffed i.e. the shipping container is simply packed to the roof filling every available space or they are palletised to maximum height. The maximum height is normally higher than would be safely stored for warehouse racking and in this case the pallet is part broken onto second pallet up to a sensible working height.

Very often the goods are packed in bulk outer cartons and must be broken down to SKUs or to SKU groups that make sense for picking and onward delivery or despatch. The critical aspect of this part of the inward goods handling is that the goods must be well labelled or coded. Overseas manufacturers can have a different view of the consignment packing than the customer (you) and problems can occur if the manufacturer has not followed your requirements in terms of coding and labelling. It is vital at this time to ensure that the products are labelled or bar coded correctly to maintain peak efficiency later.

Shipping container de-stuffing is often considered a fast 'muscle-only' process, whereas the truth is that stock being unloaded must be carefully sorted to prevent mis-picks and errors later. We welcome containers and will un-load and re-load - even for the same day removal as pallets onward to the next delivery point.

In a recent containerised goods project, goods were received from the USA in very large crates and great care had to be taken to remove them as the container had been loaded without much (any) consideration for getting the stock back out.
